Thailands National Board of Culture granted a request from the International Council of Vesak Day by Most Ven. Prof. Dr. Phra Dhammakosajarn, Rector of MCU and Chairman of the International Organization Committee on April 29th 2009.
In awarding the certification, the board affirmed the four objectives addressed, including the cooperative focus on Buddhist practice to achieve unity and distinctiveness among Thai Buddhists.
Celebrating Vesak, the birth of the Lord Buddha, his attaining enlightenment and the day he passed away as well as to create a peaceful day for the world.
Affirming cooperation among Buddhist organizations from different denominations, in harmony with culture and wisdom, leading to happiness and opportunity for all human beings, culminating in conducting a conference on the importance of wisdom, society, and religion to strengthen faithfulness in the Buddhist community.
