Between February 20-27, 2026, Phra Panyavajrapandit, Assoc. Prof. Dr., Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, and Phramaha Somchai Kittipanyo, Dr., Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, were assigned by the Most Venerable Phra Brahmawatcharatheeracharn, Prof. Dr., Rector, to perform duties as lecturers and lead meditation retreats at the Dharma Gate Buddhist College in Hungary, an affiliated institution of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University. Travel expenses were supported by funding from the Erasmus Program, which is the European Union's fund for promoting education, training, youth, and sports. Approximately 100 people, including faculty members, undergraduate and graduate students of the college, and interested members of the general public, attended the lectures and meditation sessions.

The invited lecture topics included: 

• Distinctive Features of Thai Buddhism 

• Satipatthana Meditation 

• Mindfulness: Theory and Practice 

• Ethics and Buddhist Thoughts 

• Live interview on a Buddhist radio program (BuddhaFM Interview) 

• Learning about Thai Buddhist cultural traditions, such as Thai-style chanting, offering food to monks, and receiving blessings in the Thai style 

The Dharma Gate Buddhist College in Hungary possesses several interesting distinctive features:

(1) It is the first and only Buddhist college located within the European Union.

(2) It is a Buddhist college that receives budget support from the Hungarian government (which, in a Thai context, could be referred to as a state college or a state-supervised college).

(3) It is a Buddhist college founded directly through the initiative of Hungarian citizens who practice Buddhism, under the supervision of the Hungarian Buddhist Association.

(4) It is a college that must undergo educational quality assessments according to the evaluation criteria of Hungary, the European Union (due to its participation in the Erasmus Program's faculty and student exchange scholarship), and the criteria of Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University.
