IBSC MCU Hosts International Day of Peace 2026 Under the Theme Buddhist Wisdom for Peace

Ayutthaya – 20 September 2026, the International Buddhist Studies College (IBSC) at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University (MCU) hosted the International Day of Peace 2026 event. Organized under the theme "Invest in Peace - Buddhist Wisdom for Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day," the gathering took place at the I-Mind Room, IBSC MCU.

The morning opening ceremony was kindly presided over by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phra Panyawacharabundit, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at MCU. Dr. Phrakhrusamu Vachirawit Thitavamso, Director of IBSC, formally presented the event report. The program featured a video presentation titled "Innovative Mindfulness for World Peace."
Additionally, the "Peace Role Model Award 2026" was presented to individuals and organizations serving as exemplary figures of peace. The distinguished recipients included Phra Bhavanavachirasunthorn Vi. (Kittichet Sirivaddhako), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Suvara Nakayos, Dr. Manonthapong Pornprapha, and the Thai Plum Village International Practice Center.

Key academic highlights included a special lecture titled "Investing in Peace from Within: Buddhist Wisdom for Everyday Life" delivered by the ceremony's chairperson. This was followed by a keynote speech on "Peace in Every Step: Buddhist Wisdom for Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day" by Brother Chân Pháp Niệm, a senior monastic from Plum Village.

The afternoon session commenced with a peace song performed by the Thai Plum Village International Practice Center, leading into two main panel discussions. The first session, "Learning to Be Everyday Architects of Peace: Mindfulness, Compassion and Peace in Everyday Life," featured speakers Mr. Glenn Ronald Walker, Ms. Nicole Reiter, and Ven. Chau Meko Mounglang, and was moderated by Ms. Pornsinee Kongnaisat.

The second panel, focusing on social impact, was titled "Living as Everyday Architects of Peace: From Learning to Action, From Inner Peace to Social Impact." This session was led by Ph.D. alumni representatives Miss Sutasinee Charoenwattananondha, Ms. Liang Fang, Mr. Yijie Yang, and Mr. Xiaojun Dong, with Mr. Damrong Luangraramkul serving as the moderator.
